Bustling staff members (Martin Sheen, Michael J. Fox, David Paymer, Anna Deavere Smith), a sneering opponent (Richard Dreyfuss), state dinners, format protocol, informal moments, global crises - all come into focus as Reiner and his stars explore the balance between private romance and public Presidency. |

| Every time that I have seen this film I have greatly enjoyed it. In fact I had been waiting for it to come out on DVD, and as soon as I saw it was out, I naturally had to get it! Just because I like it, it doesn’t mean that it’s going to be everyone’s cup of tea, but it you can see that every detail has been thought out; the quality of the story, the detail of the sets, the fine line up of actors, and the way the characters interact on screen. Obviously this is somewhat of an American film, but I think that many of the principals shown would work for almost any famous person, and for me, the Americanism didn’t interfere with the enjoyment of the film. |
